Recycle/Duurzame kunst

Carolien Adriaansche verzamelt al jaren allerlei 'rommel',
die ze gerangschikt op kleur/vorm op haar atelier bewaard.
Begin jaren 90, na een bezoek aan het Natuur Historisch Museum
in Rotterdam viel de verzameling rommel en de liefde voor beesten
samen. Toen ontstonden de eerste collecties, beesten in kastjes.
Deze eerste collecties waren o.a. te zien in de grootte vitrines
op het oude centraal station van Rotterdam en reisden daarna
via Colette in Parijs en Hong Kong naar New York.

In tegenstelling tot het natuurhistorische museum, laat Carolien
geen bestaande diersoorten zien maar creeert ze een nieuwe
biodiversiteit. Deze nieuwe biodiversiteit is ontstaan uit afval.
Afval is een van de oorzaken van de huidige afname van de
biodiversiteit op aarde.


Carolien Adriaansche has been collecting for years a whole
assortment of junk, which she catalogues in her studio according
to color and form.
After a visit to the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam in the
early 1990s, her junk collection and love for animals united into one.
Then came the first collections: animals in little closets.
These collections were exhibited in the large display windows at
the old central station of Rotterdam and traveled further through
Colette in Paris and Hong Kong to New York.

In contrast with the Natural History Museum, Carolien does not
include the regular habitat of her displayed animals, but instead
she creates a new bio-diversity environment for them made out of
garbage. Garbage is one of the causes for the elimination of
bio-diversity on earth.
